WORKSHOP
Workshop tentang “Paper Toys” akan diadakan pada tanggal 6 Oktober 2007; jam 15:00 WIB; di Ruang Pertunjukan KKF, oleh Santi dan Otom (Indieguerillas) dan Terra Bajraghosa.

TENTANG INSERT CHARACTER
Saat ini kita hidup di dalam dunia komunikasi visual. Mulai dari kita membuka mata di pagi hari, sarapan, berangkat kerja, sampai kita beranjak untuk tidur lagi, selalu dikelilingi oleh produk-produk desain komunikasi visual. Sebut saja: poster, iklan TV, bungkus rokok anda, kaos yang anda pakai, sampai cover majalah langganan anda adalah sebagian kecil contoh dari jagad ilmu desain komunikasi visual yang sangat luas. Namun masyarakat awam lebih sering tidak menyadari hal ini. Mereka tidak tahu kalau benda yang mereka sentuh tiap hari, majalah yang mereka baca, pakaian yang dikenakan adalah produk dari desain komunikasi visual. Walau tak jarang barang-barang tersebut sudah melekat di hati mereka karena desainnya yang menarik.

Pameran ini bertajuk “INSERT CHARACTER”, diambil dari sebuah istilah salah satu tool dalam software grafis di computer (CorelDraw) yang akrab bagi desainer grafis. Tool ini berfungsi untuk memasukkan karakter pilihan kita ke dalam halaman kerja. Hal ini dihubungkan dengan konsep pameran ini yang mencoba memberi sentuhan berbeda dengan memasukkan desain-desain karakter kreasi seniman tersebut ke dalam produk-produk yang sering kita jumpai setiap hari, seperti: toys, neon box, video klip, sepatu, tempat tissue, kaos, mouse, dll. Biasanya desain karakter hanya merupakan sisipan dalam pameran seni rupa. Kalaupun ada pameran yang mengkhususkan pada desain karakter, maka yang ditampilkan berupa art work yang di print atau digambar manual dan toys character. Kami membuat sesuatu yang berbeda dengan menerapkan desain karakter ke dalam produk-produk yang disebutkan di atas. Mnegingat bahwa desain adalah seni terapan.

Pameran ini diprakarsai oleh Kelompok Kotak Pensil yang bekerja sama dengan beberapa seniman lain, seperti Santi Indieguerillas, Terra Bajraghosa, Farid Stevi, Bendung, Yudhi, Danan RSL, dll.

ABOUT INSERT CHARACTER
Nowadays, we live in a visual communication world. Started since we open our eyes in the morning, breakfast, go to work, till we are going to bed, we always surrounded by visual communication design products, for example: poster, TV commercial, cigarette pack, T-shirt that you wear, till your regular magazine’s cover. They are little part of the world of visual communication design, but the people seem do not realize it. They do not know that the things which they touch everyday, the magazine that they read, the clothes that they wear, are the product of visual communication design. Even though the numbers of that things already stick to their heart because the designs are interesting.
This exhibition is entitled “INSERT CHARACTER”, which is taken from an expression in one of the icon in computer graphic software (CorelDraw) which is very common in graphic designers. This icon is for inserting the chosen characters into the worksheet. In this thing, it is connected with the exhibition concept which tries to give different touch by putting in the character designs in to products that we’ve seen everyday, such as toys, neon box, video clip, shoes, tissue box, T-shirt, mouse, etc. Usually, the character design only as an insertion in visual art exhibition. If there is an exhibition special for character design, so it will be printed or manual drew art works and toys character. In this exhibition tries to make something different by applying the character design in to the products that already mentioned above. Considering that design is an applied art.
This exhibition is organized by Kotak Pensil group featuring some other artists, such as Santi (Indieguerillas), Terra Bajraghosa, Farid Stevi, Bendung, Yudhi, Danan RSL, etc.
